Make Your Pet A Star!

The often-quoted story about the origin of this breed is a genetic impossibility.  Ragdoll cats were said to have come from a white Persian-style cat that was struck by a car while pregnant and broke her pelvis.  The damage sustained resulted in her kittens being excessively limp when held and feeling no pain.  Rumors that this animal can be thrown around like a Ragdoll are untrue but have given rise to the breed's name.  The exact background of the it is unknown.   It seems to have arisen in California during the 1960's and likely to have been related to Berman.

Ragdoll cats, which are named for their willingness to go limp in your arms, have an  easy-going, docile temperament.  If you have children, this is the pet for you because it is particularly good with children.  Ragdoll cats get along well also with other pets.  Some breeders claim this breed is so nonaggressive they won't even defend themselves when attacked.
