All Burmese cats are Intelligent, friendly, extrovert and out going, which is why they are considered a  people oriented cat.  They do not like to be left alone for long periods of time and they love the company of other cats, preferably another Burmese cat.  The Burmese cat's coat is short, glossy and lies close to its body. Their eyes are large and lustrous, wide set, slanting slightly toward the nose.

The Burmese cats require very little grooming for they take excellent care of it themselves.  They love to talk and are very active.  They will talk to anyone that will listen.  Be sure to give your companion toys to keep him occupied.

Each breed of Burmese cats have a history of development.  One example of breed development is the Sable also known as Brown Burmese. The Brown Burmese cats were the first Burmese cats that were brought to California from the Far East in the 1930's.  At that time there were no other Burmese cats in the USA.  When they were first introduced to California there was a female cat named Wong Mau that had been mated to a Seal Point Siamese. The kittens were hybrids.  One of Wong Mau=s sons were mated back with her and the results were some plain-coated, dark brown kittens. These hybrids became the basis for this cat breed.
